The WPF redefines peace through research, advocacy and engagement that creates pathways for non-violent futures.
We partnered with Room for Magic, an LA-based research and creative studio, to bring the WPF website to life. The site merged two previous websites with 1000+ combined posts, so it was a large site build and a data-migration project all in one. This could have been a difficult project on multiple fronts, but with Alfred Adarkwah on PM and Cody Cano on design, it was smooth and seamless.
Each research area in the site has its own landing page which houses an overview and then the various publications and articles that fall under that area. We used multiple WP post-types and custom categories, making sure that all of the content was filterable and searchable under those special taxonomies.
While the design looks simple and elegant, the column and padding details require complex calculations to make sure that all of the right column elements aligned, and that the white container overflowed by a fixed amount, creating a border around the article text. We had to account for the negative margin across all of the screen sizes.
With 1000+ posts in the site, filtering and search are very important. Cody designed a filtering system that allow you to quickly drill down to the content you are looking for. This is built using AJAX to keep the filtering system fast and contained within the page without having to reload.
